24×36 Oil on canvas, 1996
The black man was sold to be a slave forever, but God, who created all men equal, did not intend for this to happen. Therefore, wherever and whenever they were oppressed by their masters, the slaves were aware of their true purpose. They were not afraid to give their life and fight for freedom to become what a man was created to be in the world. They always looked forward to their freedom, knowing that if there is a time to sit in the back of the bus, there will be a time to sit behind its wheel.
